Contributing positively to sustainable development is fundamental and therefore we believe in integral environmental management: company, process and product.
Environmental Commitment
The Calmell Group has established, as a priority axis, the Commitment to Quality Improvement and is responsible for the Impact of its Activity on the Environment. To this end, it allocates all the necessary resources to carry out good management and develops an active policy for the environment, which is specified in several points.
… and the French label Imprim’Vert in 2011: seal created in 1998 by the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of the Loir-et-Cher and by the Regional Chamber of Trades and Crafts of the Centre. This seal is attributed to more than 2,200 production sites spread across France and the European Union. Its purpose is to promote the implementation, through the companies that carry out printing activities, detailing specific actions in order to reduce the impacts of their activity on the environment.
The criteria for its attribution (correct disposal of hazardous waste, ensuring the storage of hazardous raw materials, non-use of toxic products, environmental awareness to personnel and control and monitoring of energy consumption of production plants) consolidate absolute respect for the environment that characterises us.
Our commitment to the environment has also obtained the recognition of the Gremi d’arts gràfiques de catalunya. The accreditation of “good environmental practices” certifies that our Company has and shows the commitment to carry out careful environmental management and that it complies with current environmental regulations.
Calmell Group promotes environmental sustainability in its paper purchase management, prioritizing the purchase from suppliers that have the FSC and PEFC certification systems. FSC certification ensures that products originate from well-managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
In turn, PEFC is the most widely implemented forest certification system in the world. The aim of the PEFC is to ensure that the forests of the world are managed in a responsible manner and that their functions are protected for present and future generations. To accomplish this, it draws on the collaboration of owners and companies in the forestry sector, which, betting on the certification of their forests and industries, are ensuring the sustainability of the sector.
For plastic cards, thanks to the result of the development of a new polymer that meets the needs of the market to take advantage of the unique behaviour of PVC (printing, durability,…) and with the aim of providing an ecological alternative, we can offer a biodegradable PVC card: “ECOCARD”. The “ECO” PVC that we use degrades in 3 years, once in contact with the environment, according to the European regulation CE 94/62 (ISO-14855) and maintains all the properties of a conventional PVC card. Both the core of the card and the overlay (protective printing layers) are eco-friendly.
In relation to the packaging that we put on the market with our products, we increasingly bet on 100% Recyclable corrugated cardboard boxes. In this way, Calmell Group promotes the strategy of the “Circular Economy” and the goal of “Zero Dumping”. These containers are obtained from properly treated and valued paper and cardboard waste while also serving as a basis and raw material for the manufacture of new recycled papers.
